About us
What does the Alannah & Madeline Foundation do?
The Alannah & Madeline Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation. Together with our compassionate supporters, we help children who have experienced violence and trauma to heal, recover and thrive.
We work to make sure children and young people feel safe, protected and valued. Wherever they live, learn and play.
Like you, we believe every child deserves to experience the magic of childhood. And all children and young people have the right to live without fear, without violence, and without trauma.
Why is my donation so important?
Without your support, many children who’ve experienced extreme violence and trauma may never receive the help they need to recover. They could simply fall through the cracks.
Every time you donate to the Alannah & Madeline Foundation, you help deliver expert support to help those children feel comforted, safe, valued, and loved.
Your gifts also fund services that help children and young people heal, recover and thrive.
Many Alannah & Madeline Foundation programs operate entirely and exclusively through the generous support of our supporters.
Your donation ensures these programs and services can not only continue to operate but can be offered to more children and young people who urgently need them.
How will my donation spent?
Your donation will help children who have experienced violence and trauma in a number of important ways.
Healing through care
Your gifts help provide expert, one-on-one therapy to help children process their experiences and heal through the Children Ahead program.
Through Buddy Bags, you’ll give practical and emotional support to children who are in crisis or have been taken into emergency care.
Your kindness can also help surround children living in unsafe homes with support when they're waiting for emergency care hearings at the Children’s Court.
Advocating for children’s rights
As a supporter, you’ll help power advocacy work that speaks out with, and on behalf of children. You help make sure children are protected, and their voices are heard.
Through your generous support, you’re helping keep children safe from violence by ensuring gun laws remain strong and are strictly enforced – in every part of Australia.
You’re helping the Alannah & Madeline Foundation advocate for the rights of children and young people to be upheld online and offline. You’ll help enable our work with school communities, governments, and industry to make online spaces safer, and ensure optimal safety standards are built into all digital spaces and devices.
We’re here to help! Email us at community@amf.org.au or give us a call on 1300 720 747.
If you or someone you know is in immediate danger and requires an urgent response, please phone 000 or call your local police.

Great question! Here are a few tips to make your Purple Picnic fundraising page shine:
Say ‘cheese’: Add a photo to your fundraising page. It may only take a minute, but it makes a big difference. In fact, people who add a photo to their page are 80% more likely to smash their fundraising target!
Make it personal: If you have a personal reason for hosting a Purple Picnic this September, make sure you share it on your fundraising page.
Your story will give your friends and family even more reasons to donate. And people who personalise their page raise more money overall too!
Kickstart your fundraising: The best way to get the ball rolling is to make a self-donation. Your donation will show everyone how committed you are to raising funds. And when you self-donate, you'll receive a free tea towel featuring heartfelt drawings from children.Your fundraising badges are like little symbols of encouragement from us, to remind you how awesome you are!
Every time you hit a key milestone, like uploading your photo, updating your bio, or even making a self-donation, your badges will appear on your fundraising page.No minimum! However much you raise, we are truly grateful – as are the children you’re helping.
