Walking to safeguard our children

On 28 April 1996 at the historical Port Arthur site in Tasmania, 35 people were tragically killed. 

Alannah and Madeline Mikac, aged six and three, along with their mother, died that day. Because of this terrible act of violence, Alannah and Madeline's father, Walter Mikac AM, and a small group of volunteers, worked to set up the Alannah & Madeline Foundation with the belief that all children should have a safe and happy childhood without being subjected to any form of violence.

In April next year, my daughter Emily and I are walking the Three Capes Track together to support the Alannah & Madeline Foundation's valuable work. 

Em has just recently returned to Tasmania from Melbourne and I work with Foundation on their eSmart Schools program across Tasmania.

We were wanting to support the Foundation and find some more time together in our busy lives, so this is the perfect opportunity for us both to step up, chat without the wonderful distraction of Em's beautiful 4-year old and raise some funds for this terrific organisation.
