This September, I’m hosting a Purple Picnic as part of Alannah & Madeline Day, raising funds to provide much-needed Buddy Bags for children escaping violence.
Every day in Australia, 32 children are placed into emergency care because they’re at serious risk of harm or have no safe place to live. Many are removed with nothing but the clothes they’re wearing.
A Buddy Bag packed with brand-new, essential comforts, like PJs, toiletries and a teddy should be waiting for every child who has fled danger. But right now, 1 in 2 children miss out, because the Alannah & Madeline Foundation simply can’t keep up with demand.

My inspiration
Thursday 18th Sep I was recently inspired by my mum. Back home in New Zealand, she continues to live in close to the Māngere Refugee Resettlement Centre in Auckland and recently her and a group of her retired friends took on the opportunity to collect needed clothing and essential items for the refugee centre which led me to think what little part I can play and not too much later I learnt about the purple picnic and their dedication to helping children in need.
