This September, bring love, comfort and a Buddy Bag to children fleeing danger
When you host a Purple Picnic throughout September or on Alannah & Madeline Day, 18 September, you’ll raise funds to help provide Buddy Bags for children in emergency care – helping them feel safe and cared for, perhaps for the first time in their lives.
How it works
It's as easy as signing up, decorating your picnic spread with all the items in your host kit, inviting your guests and raising vital funds for children escaping violence.
Your Purple Picnic will give a child comfort when they need it most, by helping raise funds to ensure they get a Buddy Bag filled with brand-new essential items like fresh PJs, underwear, toiletries, a book and soft teddy when they need a cuddle.

Anna Simon is a Sydney-based home cook, proud Calabrese Italian-Australian, and mum of two who has been featured on The Chef’s Line and Dishing It Up on SBS, as well as regular cooking segments on Channel 7’s Sunrise and The Morning Show.
She believes in the power of food to comfort and connect. Through her support of the Purple Picnic, Anna hopes to help children impacted by violence trauma in the way she knows best – the warmth of food.

A Buddy Bag and cuddly teddy meant the world to Millie*
The violence and abuse Millie and her siblings lived through meant they were afraid of everyone. They barely even spoke when they arrived in their foster home.
That’s until they found the Buddy Bags filled with brand-new and essential items that had been left on each of their beds. Without Buddy Bags, Millie and her siblings would have spent their first night in their foster home sleeping in their school uniforms, with nothing to cuddle.
But thanks to kind people like you, Millie and her siblings felt safe, loved and like someone truly cared for them.
