Help give a Buddy Bag full of care to a child escaping violence.
Every day between now and Christmas, the danger for vulnerable children is increasing - and we need your help.
Emma* spent last Christmas hiding in her room, trying to read. It was the only way she could distract herself from the terrible sounds ourside her bedroom door. The sounds of shouting, screaming and violence.
Christmas should be a time of joy, but sadly for children like Emma, it can be dangerous. The increased stress, financial pressures and heightened emotions contribute to a dramatic spike in family violence. As a result, terrified, traumatised children like Emma will need to seek safety in crisis accommodation.
These vulnerable children urgently need the comfort and care of a Buddy Bag. Buddy Bags are like 'mini care packages' for children living in crisis accommordation or emergency foster care. Each Buddy Bag is carefully packed by volunteers with essential items and extra comforts - and to pack more of them we urgently need your help.
With your support, we know you will inspire others to donate to the Alannah & MAdeline Foundation. All donations can help children like Emma, to receive the comfort of a Buddy Bag. Every child deserves to feel safe, loved and cared for this Christmas.

This Christmas, give a child like Emma, the chance to finally feel safe.
Emma* and her mum had to leave their home, fast. On Christmas Day, her father began drinking heavily. After attacking her mum, he passed out from the alcohol. When he fell asleep, Emma and her mum, fled for safety.
There was no time to pack Emma’s Christmas presents, her beloved books or even her toothbrush.
When she fled violence with her mum, Emma had to leave all her beloved books behind. The Buddy Bag meant she could find a quiet corner, read and relax. It gave her a distraction from her fear. And helped her feel calm.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Alannah & Madeline Foundation do?
The Alannah & Madeline Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to keeping children and young people safe where they live, learn and play.
We fight for the rights of children, not just because children are precious – they are – and not just because our instinct is to protect them from the world – it is – but because only when young people are safe can they also be happy, hopeful and strong.
Why is my support needed?
Each year 13,000 Australian children are taken into emergency care because they’re at serious risk of harm or have no safe place to live.
These experiences can leave children and young people feeling scared and alone, often placing them in unfamiliar environments and separated from parents and siblings. We know that many arrive with nothing but the clothes they are wearing and with no other belongings.
All donations support the delivery of our Buddy Bag program, providing these children and young people with the comfort and care of a Buddy Bag.
How do my followers donate?

Where does the fundraising money go?
Your donation to the Alannah & Madeline Foundation will help deliver expert support to children impacted by violence and trauma, to feel comforted, safe, valued, and loved. Without your support, many children who’ve experienced extreme violence and trauma may never receive the help they need to recover. They could simply fall through the cracks.
Your gifts also fund services that help children and young people heal, recover and thrive. Your donation ensures these programs and services can not only continue to operate but can be offered to more children and young people who urgently need them.
