Madeline Foundation
Our story
On 28 April 1996, Alannah and Madeline, aged six and three, were tragically killed alongside their mother, Nanette, and 32 others at Port Arthur in Tasmania.
One year later, their father, Walter Mikac AM, launched the Foundation in their honour, driven by the belief that all children should live a safe life, free from violence and trauma.
After 30 years, the challenges facing children and young people may have changed, but our mission has not.

What we do
Since 1997, the Alannah & Madeline Foundation has supported children and young people to be free from violence and trauma.
We fight to ensure no childhood is stolen by violence, trauma or abuse. Until every child is safe, strong and heard.
